Ethiopia to establish AHILA local chapter
A group of Librarians and educators were participants of HINARI-AGORA-OARE-TEEAL Training-of-Trainer Workshop from September 1 to 5, where the president of AHILA, Vimbai M. Hungwe himself was a trainer. The group has proposed the president to have a talk with him about possible opportunity of initiating AHILA Chapter establishment. Following, the group has met the president at the end of the workshop and held a small meeting at the ILRI training room, Addis Ababa, where few introductions about AHILA, the benefit after establishment of the Ethio-AHILA Chapter and the kind of commitment expected of the group was communicated. Moreover, the president had a little but wonderful inspirational words about the profession, which I am sure, had the power of making each one of us to listen to our inner voice and follow it because it is what is best for us primarily and our society at large. It is also proposed to be our professional obligations which need to be defined that the Chapter will have its own bylaws to conform to the requirements of the activities waiting a head to be accomplished. Then the group collectively agreed to go for the establishment of Ethio-AHILA Chapter.

After a meeting with the AHILA President, Ethiopia is set to establish an AHILA chapter, Ethio-AHILA. The interim coordinator is Getachew Bayissa and a very exciting draft of action plan has been laid out which awaits adoption by the current interested members. The action plan has been laid out over an initial period of one year and includes among other activities, preparation of Ethio-AHILA bylaws, membership drive, a possible survey of current access to health information in Ethiopia and others.
